Milan have held talks with Roma about Nicolo Zaniolo’s move in January, sources have revealed 90 mins.
Giallorossi manager Jose Mourinho has admitted the versatile striker has asked to leave the club but they haven’t received an acceptable offer for him this transfer window.
90 mins reported last week that Tottenham and Roma are in talks over a possible €30m deal but are struggling to agree on a structure.
Spurs want an initial loan with an optional purchase clause and only a mandatory one if they qualify for the Champions League, while Roma want the clause to be mandatory anyway.
Tottenham are now followed in the race for Zaniolo by Serie A champions Milan, whom they will meet in the Champions League round of 16 in February and March. Technical director Paolo Maldini is considered a fan of the Italy international.
Milan have offered to loan the 23-year-old out on loan but they are mostly willing to add Roma’s desired signing of buying him at the end of the season. They have so far offered a fee of €25m, which is below their asking price.
Zaniolo has struggled to match his former heights for Roma this season. He scored the winning goal in last year’s Europa Conference League final but failed to kick this season.
In this edition of Talking Transfers, Scott Saunders hosts Toby Cudworth and Graeme Bailey to cover some of the latest transfer news. On today’s agenda: Dusan Vlahovic, Anthony Gordon, Enzo Fernandes, Amadou Onana, Malo Gusto, Nicolo Zaniolo, Pedro Porro, Weston McKennie, Milan Skriniar, Maiximo Perrone & more!
