Shadow and Bone Season 3 Cast News Date Spoilers

spoilers below.

At the end, new journeys await shadow and bone Season 2. As another chapter of the Netflix adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels ends, the characters either change course or start anew. This includes Alina and Mal, who split up to pursue their own callings, and the Crows, who are about to take on their biggest job of all time. So does Ravka and the surrounding lands, which may be more vulnerable than ever now that the Shadowfold has been eliminated. Where will the hugely popular fantasy series go next? Here’s what we know.

Has shadow and bone extended for season 3?

Netflix hasn’t officially announced it yet, but the team seems to be thinking ahead and plan to record new stories beyond what was in Bardugo’s books.

“Fortunately, we’re creating brand new material for actors we know, love and trust to help us make this happen,” said co-showrunner Eric Heisserer Weekly entertainment. “And it weaves her story into that king of scars Duologies we’re already in love with, and what we think will come to life on screen from those. So it’s about putting those together like we did with other characters in the first two seasons.”

Who will be in the cast?

We can expect Jessie Mei Li to return as Alina Starkov if the show continues. We’ll also likely see more of: Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej Ghafa), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik), Daisy Head (Genya Safin), Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar), Lewis Tan (Tolya Yul-Bataar), Anna Leong Brophy (Tamar Kir-Bataar), Jack Wolfe (Wylan Hendriks) and Patrick Gibson (Nikolai Lantsov).

It’s also likely that we’ll see more of Sujaya Dasgupta (Zoya), Joanna McGibbon (Nadia Zhabin), Alistair Nwachukwu (Adrik Zhabin) and Dean Lennox Kelly (Pekka Rollins) again.

However, unless he reappears in flashbacks or through other, darker magic, Ben Barnes appears to be taking his leave as General Kirigan.

What will it be about?

The season two finale sets up the ice court job for the next episode, which made up a large part of the Six crows Books. A chemist who developed the highly addictive drug Jurda Parem, which increases Grisha’s powers a thousandfold, has been captured by Fjerdans and awaits trial. Kaz and his team are tasked with breaking it out to stop Fjerda from weaponizing the drug and provoking an international war. We’ve already seen what a person on the drug can do: a Fjerdan woman at Nikolai’s coronation can bring down the whole congregation, maybe even some to their deaths, and vomit blood until Alina stops her.

For now, however, Kaz’s team consists of himself, Wylan, Jesper, and Nina, as Matthias is still behind bars in Hellgate (with a vendetta growing for fellow inmate Pekka Rollins) and Inej is on the hunt for the slave trader who kidnapped her and her brother. Despite Kaz’s pleas to stay and their undeniable sexual tension, Inej pulls away because Kaz won’t let up. She joins an unlikely crew – including Mal, Tolya, Nadia and Tamar – aboard the flying ship Hummingbird.

Netflix

Mal has taken on the role of Sturmhond, the privateer in charge of the Hummingbird and their fleet after Prince Nikolai relinquished the title and passed it on to him. Mal, who turned out to be the Firebird Booster Alina needed to destroy the crease, fulfilled his destiny (he even died for it, but she brought him back to life); Now he’s looking for a new target. Though he must break up with Alina, they will know their love is the real thing when their paths lead them back together.

Alina ends the season alongside her fiancé Nikolai, who will now be crowned king. She forms the triumvirate with her two closest friends at court: Zoya, who will lead Grisha training, and Genya, who will be responsible for making the palace a safe haven for refugees. Alina destroyed the Fold, killed General Kirigan and burned his body, but trouble is brewing. Eventually, in the finale, she uses The Cut to bring down the attacker at Nikolai’s coronation, but it seems like she called him out Shadow instead of light, which could mean that Kirigan left a dark impression on her. (Has it something to do with her using Merzost to revive Mal?) In the next season, she could deal with her changing abilities.

Nikolai is also in trouble; He was wounded while fighting one of Kirigan’s shadow monsters, and the scar appears to be growing down his back, radiating dark energy. When he looks in the mirror, he sees one of the monsters in his reflection.

There could also be some kind of homecoming in Alina’s future. Inej gives her the Neshyenyer Sword that was used to kill Kirigan’s monsters, and she must take it back to Saint Neyer in Shu Han herself. As an orphan of Shu descent, this could be an interesting journey for her.
