WOMEN IN BUSINESS: Get your travel tips from Bobbie Repine

Repine Travel LLC, 2412 Spruce Road, Cherry Tree, is busy.

Customers quickly grabbed the brochures for an April 2 trip to see the Penguins play the Philadelphia Flyers.

The travel agency posted on Facebook that half of the brochures for the trip went out on March 2nd, the rest on March 3rd.

Bobbie Repine’s company has specialized in group travel since 2001. Repine herself specialized in travel advice much earlier.

“After I graduated high school, I went to a travel school in Florida,” Repine recalls.

She continued her interest in travel while putting down roots as a wife and mother. Repine and her husband Ken had three daughters. They now have four grandchildren.

Now she worked here and there for a few travel agencies.

“I worked for a bus company and planned their trips for eight years,” Repine said.

She still does many bus tours today, stopping in Cambria and Indiana counties.

Within Pennsylvania, they go to penguin games, casino and shopping trips, and venture to destinations like Lancaster’s Sight and Sound Theater for their performance of “Moses.”

“But then we do them in the United States too,” Repine said.

“We did a three-week western tour last year,” she recalls. “We spent 20 days crossing the country, seeing many national parks and driving up the coasts of California and Oregon. We had a great time.”

Seneca Niagara Casino and Ocean City, Md. are among this year’s cross-state destinations. Montreal and Quebec are among the planned over-the-border stops in 2023.

“We have some trips planned for this year,” said Repine.

She also cruises, reaching destinations such as Europe and the Bahamas.

A 10-day voyage to Iceland and Norway as well as London aboard Norwegian Prima is planned for June.

All from a home base where Cambria, Clearfield and Indiana counties meet.

“My office is in my house,” said Bobbie Repine.

Meanwhile, Repine Travel LLC was founded 22 years ago.

There she works with her assistant, Lori Deitman, who has been with the company for about eight years.

“Occasionally some of my daughters help me out,” Cherry Tree’s travel agent said.

When they don’t live their own lives

“My oldest daughter, Melissa Repine, works at Children’s Hospital as a clinical coordinator for cancer patients,” she continued. “She makes my website.”

The website includes details of upcoming trips, as well as an Insurance Proposed Form and a COVID Waiver Form.

“Please note that our first priority must always be your safety and the safety of other participants in a group tour,” the waiver reads. “Our goal is for you to be completely satisfied with your experience.”

Ken and Bobbie’s middle daughter, Angela Fields, lives in Michigan.

“She helps me with my Facebook page,” Mom said.

This Facebook page has been around since July 31, 2015. It now has over 900 people who have liked it.

“Samantha Foster is my youngest,” Repine said. “She lives in Ebensburg. She occasionally helps me in the office or accompanies me on a bus ride.”

In between, Mom said, “She’s a licensed clinical social worker.”

As for the next generation, “my grandkids also like to travel with me,” she said. “Especially my 16-year-old granddaughter Riley, who has been riding the bus since she was 9 months old.”

The grandchildren are Riley, Ruger, Charlie and Lottie.
