For those traveling on this vacation, it is important to allow enough time to clear airport security.
DENVER — Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the summer travel season and Colorado residents are taking to the skies.
Denver International Airport (DIA) forecasts more than 400,000 people will travel through its TSA checkpoints Thursday through Tuesday.
DIA estimates that the busiest days during the Memorial Day holiday will be Thursday, Friday and Monday, when an estimated 70,000 passengers pass through security on each of those days — 9.4% more than in 2022.
Most onsite parking at DIA is open with the exception of valet parking in both garages, part of the East Economy Lot and the Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot. The new Longs Peak Shuttle Lot at 25630 E 78th Ave. is opened.
The DIA said passengers should allow plenty of time to get through security and arrive at the airport at least two hours before their boarding time.

A new AAA travel survey found that 82% of Coloradons will travel this year, with 59% planning a summer vacation.
Many of them will be taking a road trip this summer, starting with the Memorial Day holiday weekend. With 84% of Colorado residents planning a road trip, AAA Colorado encourages drivers to head to their destinations early.
According to AAA Colorado, motorists should expect congestion in mountain resort areas and near tourist attractions during the summer, especially on weekends and holidays.
Traditionally, gasoline prices peak in the spring and fluctuate throughout the summer.
“While most Colorado residents plan to travel this year, very few have actually done so booked “As international travel restrictions are lifted, economic concerns ease and the weather warms, travel demand could exceed travel capacity — causing headaches and high prices for those pursuing those plans.” Waiting too long to book.”
