Eli Apple spent Monday night talking to the trash on Twitter bills after Bengal beat Buffalo over the weekend. He specifically targeted wide receiver Stefon Diggs and quarterback Josh Allen after Diggs was upset during and after the game when Buffalo’s season ended.
However, Bill’s defense attorney Shaq Lawson felt Apple was taking his trash-talking too far when he tweeted Apple directly, accusing him of disrespecting Damar Hamlin. Apple tweeted “Cancun on 3” with two hands making a heart shape, a gesture similar to Hamlin’s, to show its appreciation for the widespread support it’s received.
“You played a good game, Eli Apple, but disregard my boy’s (Hamlin’s) situation, which makes you (really) beat up,” Lawson said. “Leave it on the field.”
Apple sent Hamlin its gratitude in a later tweet.
“Everyone’s loving thoughts, prayers and concerns for (Hamlin) as he continues to recover from this tragic incident,” Apple said. “Never would I take this frighteningly unfortunate scene lightly. This game is really a dangerous risk for our body, mind and soul. Nothing but love to all my football brothers.”
However, Apple later responded directly to Lawson, saying it was “a shame” he couldn’t back up his speech on the field and telling him to “enjoy Mexico.”
Apple has been known to talk trash after wins, including last year’s Bengals Super Bowl run.
