USC signee Juju Watkins goes into senior night for 60 points

On January 26, Juju Watkins set a record with 45 points in Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, California). This school record lasted a whole weekend.

The five-star veteran and USC signee smashed her previous record Tuesday by amassing 60 points in the undefeated Trailblazers’ win over Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.). Watkins led on the team’s senior night and also recorded 21 and five steals in the 88-39 win.

Watkins fired from within reach of Caitlin Clark, drilling 3s from near half-court and somehow surpassing her 45-point, 16-rebound and eight-assist game from five days earlier.

Los Angeles Times reporter Luca Evans tweeted some clips from Watkins’ otherworldly performance.

Watkins is ESPN’s highest-rated player in the Class of 2023. She is a Gold Medalist, Sports Illustrated Sports Kid of the Year 2020, two-time Los Angeles Times Girls Basketball Player of the Year and an All-American.

In February 2022, she signed with Klutch Sports Group as the agency’s first female athlete.

“Her ability to be someone that young women and young men look up to as players … She just has that It‘ said Rich Paul, CEO and founder of Klutch Sports Group, in an interview at the time USA TODAY high school sports.

“She does things the right way, she is very smart and understands her surroundings very well from a young age. I’ve been around before so I know what that looks like. I am exited what is going to happen next.”

The Trailblazers, who play their final game of the regular season Thursday night, come out with a 25-0 record and first place in the MaxPreps leaderboard.
