Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhi opened the Karate 1 Premier League at Cairo International Stadium on Friday.
The league will take place in Cairo from January 27th to 29th.
The opening ceremony was also attended by World Karate Federation (WKF) President Antonio Espinós Ortueta, Egyptian Karate Federation President Mohammed el Dahrawi, Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Oka Hiroshi and other senior officials.
During the ceremony, Sobhi said that the Egyptian state has numerous experiences that have enabled it to host important and major international sports competitions.
Meanwhile, Ortueta praised Egypt’s great organization of the event and stressed that Egypt now has the will to improve the sport.
