Betis, who is sixth in La Liga, said in a statement that the loan expired on June 30, 2023.
Perez started at his hometown club Tenerife and played in the second and third divisions of Spain before moving to Newcastle in 2014. In 2019 he moved to Leicester.
At 29 he had not yet played in the Spanish top flight.
Spanish media reported that Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini asked about Perez.

Perez is Betis’ second signing of the winter transfer window from Seville, following the arrival of defender Abner Vinicius from Athletico Paranaense in Brazil.
Abner replaced full-back Alex Moreno, who joined English club Aston Villa.
Betis also announced the loan of striker Loren Moron to Las Palmas from the Spanish second division on Tuesday.
