The Cleveland Charge’s Sharife Cooper was named NBA G League Player of the Month for games played in January 2023.
In eight games played in January, Cooper averaged 27.4 points on .500 shooting in 34.2 minutes per game with 4.4 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.0 steals. Sharife started the month with 34 points on 12-of-16 shooting and a Jan. 2 win in Westchester that started an eight-game winning streak for the batch. In the Jan. 8 win in Fort Wayne, Cooper had a career-high 43 points with 10 assists, nine rebounds and four steals. In the Jan. 18 win in Greensboro, Sharife scored 15 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter to help the team to a seventh straight win.
Cleveland was 7-1 in the eight games Cooper played in January and 9-1 overall for the month, while Sharife is currently the all-time leading scorer in the NBA G League averaging 26.8 points per game. Cooper is the first player in Team Charge history to win Player of the Month.
