Will Jayson Tatum win a first MVP award?
Traditionally, the NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is given to the best player on the best team during the 82-game regular season — but that hasn’t been the case in recent years, as Nikola Jokic has back-to-back awards with Denver.
The Celtics roll and Joe Mazzulla’s philosophy is hammered home in the Boston locker room. A seven-game winning streak with Tatum averaging nearly 34 points a night throughout the run has caught the league’s attention.
From Tatum’s earliest days in the NBA, everyone knew he could take on the best offensive talent and trade with ease. However, the 24-year-old has continued to up his game on defense and has become an unstoppable two-way force.
Boston ranks 1st in wins (11), 1st in points per game (120), 1st in offensive rating (119.5), 2nd in points (1,680), 3rd in points 1st in points difference (82), 4th in net standings (5.8), and 7th in team assists (367) this season.
The former Duke Blue Devil was nothing but humble when asked about MVP ambitions.
