Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum has emerged as the leading contender for the MVP title this season with BetOnline at +300, ahead of Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to the latest odds at BetOnline, Tatum is slightly ahead of Doncic and Antetokounmpo after Boston’s impressive seven-game winning streak to mark the best overall record in the NBA (11-3).

The Bucks have lost back-to-back to the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks but still hold the second-best 10-3 record while Dallas hovers above .500 (7-5).

Will Jayson Tatum win a first MVP award?

Traditionally, the NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is given to the best player on the best team during the 82-game regular season — but that hasn’t been the case in recent years, as Nikola Jokic has back-to-back awards with Denver.

The Celtics roll and Joe Mazzulla’s philosophy is hammered home in the Boston locker room. A seven-game winning streak with Tatum averaging nearly 34 points a night throughout the run has caught the league’s attention.

From Tatum’s earliest days in the NBA, everyone knew he could take on the best offensive talent and trade with ease. However, the 24-year-old has continued to up his game on defense and has become an unstoppable two-way force.

Boston ranks 1st in wins (11), 1st in points per game (120), 1st in offensive rating (119.5), 2nd in points (1,680), 3rd in points 1st in points difference (82), 4th in net standings (5.8), and 7th in team assists (367) this season.

The former Duke Blue Devil was nothing but humble when asked about MVP ambitions.

Tatum became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 8,000 points and 800 3PM, and has not scored less than 23 points in any of his 14 appearances this season.

His sidekick Jaylen Brown was also instrumental in Boston’s sizzling start to the season, averaging 25.4 points per game on 48% shots from the field.

Tatum has the most points in the league this season (447) ahead of Kevin Durant (428), Luka Doncic (412) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (410).
