Unlike Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green was not offered a contract extension this past off-season.
The four-time NBA champion has a one-year player option to exercise this summer. However, it is expected that he will turn it down.
To avoid losing Green for nothing, the Warriors should trade the forward before the Feb. 9 trade deadline, says an anonymous Western Conference executive.
About Heavy.com’s Jack Simone:
“They should [trade him this year]’ a Western Conference executive told Deveney. “If they’ve made the decision not to give up any of the little kids, then that’s fine, but will you just keep chugging on with what you have? Apparently the draymond hits too [Jordan] Poole was a bigger deal than they admit, it’s still dragging the team down. There’s no doubt about that.”
This season, Green is averaging 7.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 31.6 minutes per game.
