At a Hollywood apartment building Tuesday night, one of the tenants threatened front door security to such an extent that they called the LAPD.
A search warrant has been issued and now, for the first time and only on NBC4, police are revealing what has been seized from a man’s 18th floor apartment.
There were also two bulletproof vests and what was not seen but used in evidence was well over 1,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers for all the different weapons, according to Captain Raymond Valois.
Everything was in the apartment on Gordon Avenue, just off Sunset Boulevard, in an apartment with floor to ceiling windows.
The man, identified as 24-year-old Braxton Johnson, is being questioned by detectives as to why he had all these guns, some of which were illegal and none registered.
The reason behind it all remains unknown.
“Based on the location of the guns, the type of guns, and what I have been told by investigators, these officers and I absolutely believe they prevented a mass shooting incident,” said Captain Raymond Valois. “I think it was just, a matter of time before something could have happened, that this suspect might have shot out of his apartment and caused significant chaos, similar to what happened in Las Vegas.”
Valois says the views from this apartment included Hollywood Boulevard, the iconic Capitol Records Building and the 101 Freeway. He said the bolt-action rifle you confiscated could easily go half a mile if fired.
Detectives are still questioning Johnson and there is no confirmation as to whether the federal government is involved.
The security guard who alerted police is shaken and not on call.
Another security guard told NBC4 that the man in custody had just moved into the building.
