1 dead, 2 wounded in shootout near Hollywood Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES — One man was killed and two others injured in a shooting near the Hollywood Walk of Fame early Saturday, police said.

KTLA-TV reported that a gunman opened fire as the men exited a building at 1:20 a.m. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital, Los Angeles Police Department said.

The suspect fled in a vehicle, police said.

Police Detective Sean Kinchla said many people were in the area when the shooting took place.

“Hollywood is a very busy place, especially at night,” Kinchla said. “They have clubs dropping out, restaurants opening and there have been a lot of people around.”
