The European Union’s regulator, the European Commission, announced in a new filing that it has extended its deadline to make its final decision on Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
The deadline was pushed back from April 25 to May 22 after Microsoft filed its remedial action to try and approve the deal.
The filing didn’t reveal what remedies Microsoft had offered the European Commission, but Microsoft recently announced that it had signed multiple 10-year deals to bring Xbox games to PC to three cloud streaming services — Nvidia’s GeForce Now, Boosteroid and Ubitus. Microsoft has also signed a 10-year deal with Nintendo for the release call of Duty on Nintendo consoles on day one with full content parity.
“We stood behind our promise to bring something call of Duty more gamers on more devices by making deals to bring the game to the Nintendo console and the cloud game streaming services offered by Nvidia, Boosteroid and Ubitus,” a Microsoft spokesman told Reuters.
“We are now backing that promise with binding commitments to the European Commission, which will ensure players benefit from this deal in the future.”
