One of the most famous games of all time, GoldenEye 007 finally has a release date for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack and Xbox Game Pass. The James Bond FPS launches this Friday, January 27th for both platforms.
Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, GoldenEye 007 was based on the 1995 film starring Pierce Brosnan. This updated version of the game features online multiplayer on Nintendo Switch but not on Xbox. Instead, the James Bond title will have achievements, split-screen multiplayer, and 4K resolution on Xbox.
Nintendo and Rare announced that GoldenEye 007 would return in September, announcing that the launch would be soon. It’s possible that the game was delayed a bit because of the war in Ukraine, although that was only rumored. Last year GoldenEye celebrated its 25th birthday and James Bond his 60th.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack costs $50 per year and is the only way to play GoldenEye 007 on the system. The game will be available through Xbox Game Pass, but will also be part of Rare Replay on Xbox. That means you don’t necessarily have to subscribe to any service to play in the Microsoft ecosystem.
