The Day Before has been a rollercoaster since its first announcement, with so many ups and downs that the gaming community has wondered if it’s even a real game. Despite a long delayed announcement, developer Fntastic has revealed a gameplay trailer.
Fantastic’s latest trailer showcases about 10 minutes of gameplay for The Day Before. Through it, players get a look at some of the environments, character models, weapons, zombies, and crafting. From the trailer, we assume The Day Before draws inspiration from shooters like Fortnite and The Division, as well as fungus-based zombie series The Last of Us.

Reactions to the gameplay trailer seem to fall between disappointed, shocked, and outright skeptical of the game’s prospects at launch. Those looking to poke fun of the game point out that most of the gameplay seen in the trailer is simply running through a cityscape that lacks zombies – an interesting choice in a zombie survival MMO. What stood out most to viewers was the female character’s resemblance to Lara Craft from the Tomb Raider series and Ellie from The Last of Us.
If nothing else, following The Day Before has been a wild ride as Fantastical wavers between delaying the game and showing it. Only time will tell if this ambitious open-world zombie survival MMO will quell the doubts of gamers. In the meantime, check out the gameplay trailer to see The Day Before for yourself.
