Is Sons Of The Forest Coming To PS5, Xbox Series?

The unnamed peninsula has been one of gaming’s most visited locations as many players have boarded one-way flights to the One. The breakout horror survival game from Andnight Games came at a time when survival was at the core of so many releases. What could have been a refreshing mix of classic survival horror and careful resource management turns out to be a nostalgic new adventure. Players ate it up so much that Endnight Games is revisiting the concept son of the forest,

The biggest quandary about The Forest was its limited availability, as it officially launched on Steam in April 2018 (after a four-year early beta) and only landed on PS4 in November of that year. So, will the sequel rectify its predecessor’s inability to reach an even bigger audience and launch on PS5 or Xbox Series X & S?

unfortunately, Sons of the Forest is currently slated for a Steam release only, According to AndNite Games in an interview with GamingBolt, there are no plans for a current-gen console release, though they would “love to do a future console.” For now, development is focused on “delivering the best experience PC players currently have.” Unlike The Forest, Sons of the Forest is also not releasing on a Early Access basis. It also isn’t coming to PS4 or Xbox One.

While it’s entirely possible that Sons of the Forest could make its way to consoles in the future, only PC is expected to be able to face off against a whole new wave of cannibalistic mutants.

About Sons of Forest

Sons of the Forest is the second chapter in Endnight Games’ The Forest series, although its connection to the original is either unknown or nonexistent. In this go-around, players survive a helicopter crash on a remote island on their way to rescue a missing billionaire. It isn’t long before the island’s mutated denizens make themselves known, forcing players to switch into survival mode.

Similar to the original, Sons of the Forest features building and resource gathering, though everything has been overhauled for more customizable shelters and smoother supply management. You’ll be able to completely direct the construction of your base instead of following a predetermined blueprint.

AI companions join the fray and can be commanded to complete certain tasks, such as chopping wood or defending the base from cannibal attack. Of course, to make sure things aren’t too easy, the cannibals have gotten their own AI overhaul, balancing out any advantages a companion might offer to players. You’ll need to pay close attention to each mutant in order to properly assess your threats and survive each encounter.

Sons of the Forest is set for a release date of February 23rd, 2023, and will only be available for PC on Steam at launch.
