As we said at the beginning, spiders are just one of many bugs in the game, and they will be the first real challenge the player faces because they are both quick and deadly. Don’t be ashamed if you died for them while exploring the oak tree section, it happens to the best of us.
You may or may not know that there are three different types of spiders in the groundhog – recluse, orb weaver, and wolf spider. Recluse is a small spider and it is very easy to kill so we will not cover it here. Orb Weaver and Wolf Spider are the antagonists most players suffer from.
So let’s start our guide by first listing all the preparations needed before encountering a spider. If you skip this part, you’re basically going on a suicide mission.
Before we go any further, consider giving your Grounded: How to Repair Tools and Structures A reading guide.
Necessary Preparation Before Taking on a Spider
You can encounter a spider at any time if you’ve perfected your parry timing, yet it’s recommended to prepare first, so there’s room for error. We’d recommend preparing some bandages first, as they can replenish some of your health. Then you need to start preparing the armor.

We would love to craft acorn armor because the materials needed to make it are exceptionally easy to obtain.
In addition to extra defense, acorn armor also gives you extra health. Of course, you’ll need acorns to craft the armor, but that’s nothing to worry about as you’ll find an abundance of acorns around the oak tree.
After hitting the acorns with your pebble hammer, the acorns will break into pieces of acorns, acorns, and acorns. Be sure to pick them all up. In addition to the acorns, you’ll also need some juice, which, again, can be found in abundance around oak trees.
The rest of the ingredients needed to craft the armor are very easy to obtain; Players can very easily spot the clover leaves while searching. Woven fibers can be made from plant fibers that are found throughout the soil. Might Fuzz can be obtained after killing a mite. You might remember chewing on the strings of the mystery machine you were trying to fix before you discovered the area of the oak tree. Time to put that mite fuzz to use.

Once you’ve got the armor ready, it’s time to move on to the weapon. Players can draw either a bow or a club. In this guide, we will list two different methods of dealing with a spider. One of them requires a club, while the other requires a bow. While both are preferred, it is not necessary so that players can craft their weapon of choice.
If you decide to build a club, we’d recommend the Red Ant Club, as it can be acquired in the early game and prevails against a lot of creatures. While we’re on the topic, consider reading our guide on best weapon In Grounded.

Once you’re done with the preparation, it’s time to really venture into the oak tree field and fight the spiders that are giving you a ton of trouble. As we said earlier, we’ll cover two different methods.
Method 1
Let’s cover first how to deal with Orb Weaver, as they are a lot more manageable than Wolf Spiders. Getting used to parrying in Grounded is highly recommended as it is one of your best moves in combat.
As you approach the orb weaver, if he sees you from afar, the first thing he will do is run towards you or shoot a web at you. Spider webs are relatively easy to dodge, but don’t be careless.
Once you get close to Orb Weaver, he only has one move. It will lean back and lean towards you. The right way to defeat a spider is to block its moves, so you have to time your time right. Block when the spider lunges at you, and it will trigger a parry, so you’ll have the opportunity to land a hit with your club safely.
If you block too early and it doesn’t trigger a parry, however, it’s still perfectly fine, because thanks to your armor, you’ll only lose a tenth of your health. If parrying isn’t your style, you can also try strafing left and right, but it’s not as safe.
Wolf spiders are much more dangerous than orb weavers because they pack a serious punch, and they can even poison you, which will degrade your health over time. This fight requires you to be nearly flawless, so we’d recommend practicing your parry timing on Orb Weavers first.
Wolf Spider Bounce Attack is strong enough to kill you in one hit, and if you’re lucky enough to survive, you’ll have to deal with venom. Even if you block an attack it will take about 25% of your health. Unlike the Orb Weaver, the Wolf Spider has two moves.
Players will be able to tell when the Wolf Spider is about to attack them by looking at their animations. If he leans back, he’s going to pounce on you, be sure to land a perfect parry if you want to survive. Parry will also negate the wrath of the poison.
In addition to the lunge attack, if the Wolf Spider lifts its front legs in the air, prepare for its bounce attack. The bounce attack is less punishing than the lunge, but it can still do heavy damage, so be sure to hit it on time.
The general strategy remains the same, attack with your club only once after landing a parry, and don’t get greedy. If you survive the fight, then congratulations because you defeated a spider just the way the developers intended.
Method 2
If you don’t want to spend the extra time practicing your parries, there is an easy way to deal with both Orb Weaver and Wolf Spider, but it almost feels like cheating. You need a bow and a ton of arrows for this method.
First, use the bow to get the spider’s attention from afar, and once it starts chasing you, you’ll have to use the terrain to your advantage and move against a rock or some other large object. You have to start circling around so that the spider can’t attack you. Keep shooting your arrows, and the spider will eventually go down.
If you’re playing the game with a group of friends, one of you can be the bait the spider will follow, and the rest of the team will shoot the spider with arrows from afar.
If your multiplayer isn’t working for some reason, consider giving our Grounded multiplayer not working A reading guide.
That concludes our guide on how to kill spiders in Grounded. We hope that our guide helped you; The game is available now on Xbox One, Series S/X and PC. It is also available on GamePass.
