Finleyville Food Pantry is looking for a new home after eviction

FINLEYVILLE, Pa. — The Finleyville Food Pantry is looking for a new home after receiving an eviction notice.

The pantry is currently located in the basement of First Presbyterian Church on Washington Avenue.

The owner said she could not afford a lawyer to challenge the eviction.

The rent for the pantry has tripled.

“It’s such a valued resource in the community and it’s a shame to see they won’t be here,” said community member Angela Peddicord. “They have been here for over 38 years. There have been generations of families who have relied on this service and now it will be gone. It’s terrible.”

The pantry feeds about 350 families a week.

The owner is now looking for a new location for the pantry.
