DOUGLAS AND POPE COUNTIES – The Salvation Army has partnered with Elden’s Fresh Foods, Douglas County’s Outreach Food Shelf, Tom’s Market, Pope County’s Hearts and Hand Food Shelf and Northstar Bottled Water Solutions to give free Easter grocery boxes to Douglas residents and papal counties.
People need to pre-register to reserve their box. The boxes contain half a ham, a 5 pound bag of potatoes, gravy, bread, vegetables and dessert. Douglas County will be giving away 200 boxes and Pope County will be giving away 75 boxes. Grocery boxes are available on a first come, first serve basis.
To reserve your box in either district, call one of the following phone numbers – 320-304-2706, 320-304-3486, 320-304-2855, 320-760-1343, 320-391-1254, or 320 -391- 1217. Lines are now open Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 1pm and 5pm and Tuesday and Thursday between 4pm and 8pm. Lines are open until all boxes are taken.
The Douglas County food distribution will be held Thursday, April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Outreach Food Shelf, 1205 Lake St. in Alexandria. In Pope County, distribution will be on Wednesday, April 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Hearts and Hand Food Shelf, 206 6th Ave. NW at Glenwood.
One grocery box is allowed per household.
