WILLIAMSTON — A diner in Williamston where the Food Network show Restaurant: Impossible, which filmed for two days last summer, will be featured in an episode expected to air in March, according to the network’s website.
The cast and crew of “Restaurant Impossible”, including host and chef Robert Irvine, filmed an episode on June 8th and 9th at the Sunnyside Cafe, 725 W. Grand River Ave that included a “great reopening” of the store.
Restaurant: Impossible follows Irvine’s efforts to “help a failing restaurant fix things in two days…” according to the Food Network description. “He and his team are using all their ingenuity, brawn and heart and soul to give small business owners a chance to transform their restaurants.”
Jeanette Ellsworth, co-owner of the Sunnyside Cafe, did not immediately respond to a message left Tuesday morning. In May, before filming Restaurant: Impossible at her store, Ellsworth said she couldn’t discuss upcoming filming due to a contract with the network.
Sunnyside Cafe will be featured in an episode titled “Sunnyside Down,” which is scheduled to air March 2 at 8 p.m., according to the Food Network website.
“Robert Irvine travels to Williamston to revitalize Sunnyside Café, a small breakfast spot with big problems,” reads the Food Network synopsis. “Owner Jeanette is a dedicated micromanager who alienates her staff and refuses to change the restaurant inside or out. Robert wastes no time addressing the issues and finding solutions to keep this restaurant from going under.”
