A new statement from FIFA‘s president makes it clear that the long-running franchise isn’t going away any time soon, as the Football Association plans to launch its own competing football game. Despite the ongoing drama surrounding the future of the franchise following EA’s loss of the FIFA license, the latest entry has proven to be a success FIFA 23 on track to become the best-selling title in franchise history.
Debuting on the Sega Mega Drive in 1993 as FIFA International Soccer, EA’s line of licensed soccer games would eventually grow to become the best-selling sports game franchise in the world. While the quality of the series contributions sometimes varies greatly from year to year, FIFAAnnual releases from have been one of the best ways for players to experience digital football for decades. After the recent loss of rights to the FIFA franchise, EA will release its own EA Sports FC Play with licensed players from different football clubs.
A new tweet from reporter Martyn Ziegler of the British newspaper The Times includes a quote from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, which states in no uncertain terms that the FIFA Franchise isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Make it clear that the Football Association wants to back down EA Sports FC a fight for his money, Infantino is quoted as saying: “The new FIFA game – that FIFA 25, 26, 27, and so on – will always be the best e-game for any girl or boy, we will have news on that very soon.” They are already trying to fend off threats from the current rival FIFA Franchise, EA has been in talks with the English Premier League to license their teams for future football games.
Reactions to Infantino’s statements were mixed, with football fans clearly divided on which franchise would come out on top. A photo of the Commodore 64 game was shared in a reply mocking Infantino’s unusual choice of words Emlyn Hughes International Soccerjoking that “FIFA 25 looks great, love a good egame!” Referring to FIFA’s reputation for focusing on making football fans money, another commenter quipped that they can’t wait to release “Gianni Infantino Power Soccer 25 with crammed inside NFTs”. Other commentators remained true to that FIFA franchise, with one commenter stating that they would never buy a copy of it EA Sports FC.
It remains to be seen whether the fans will flock to it FIFA Gaming without EA at the top, it’s clear that FIFA President Gianni Infantino has high hopes for the future of the long-running franchise.
