The choice of the right leggings often depends solely on the occasion. A thicker pair with compression may be better suited for high-intensity, high-impact activities, while a softer, more flexible pair of leggings may be more comfortable for yoga or Pilates. Most activewear brands now have separate lines based on the type of activity, and the differences between brands are rather subtle. For example, Lululemon’s Seamless Training High-Rise Tights are reserved for HIIT workouts, while the Girlfriend Collective Float collection is my go-to choice for Pilates. However, I rarely find leggings that fit seamlessly into all workouts – and yet they are available in the form of the Match Point Tights from the sustainable activewear brand DK Active.
DK Active Match Point Tights, £63

I wish you could literally feel and wear a pair of these leggings because that’s the only way you can see what I mean – it’s surprisingly both compressive and light, which I have never encountered with other brands. It’s ethically made from 100% regenerated nylon that’s supple and the entire finish is cool to the touch. Pulled up (extremely high-waisted, by the way), the four-way stretch technology is said to offer muscle support – essentially this means the contouring fabric can stretch horizontally and vertically equally across the muscles, which then helps in blood circulation. In addition, the super breathability of the texture allows any sweat or moisture to be wicked away in no time at all.
I took out these leggings (which true to size) – and I wore an entire DK Active set paired with a medium support bra called Ignite Crop (which true to size) and a 100% Organic Cotton Side Swipe Tee ( that fits like it’s bigger) – for a double stroke workout of a high-cardio tennis match in nearly 30-degree heat, immediately followed by a lighter-impact indoor barre class. The leggings, which wore like a second pair of skin the entire time, were compression and held everything in place without uncomfortably squeezing my gut. joy joy joy.

No wonder – no matter how sweat-wicking the material is – these pieces had to be washed afterwards. But what’s so fabulous about the nylon texture of the leggings and bra is that they’re ripe for a quick hand wash in the bath or sink. I can just drape them over a pole or rack to dry and they’re ready to use again the next day. As well as regenerated nylon, the brand also uses high performance Italian Lycra and a buttery soft Supplex Lycra in many of their styles, so there are options available for everyone and every body type. All parts are said to be ethically and environmentally conscious, and they are rigorously tested and tried out in small batches to minimize production waste.
While I haven’t tested any of the brand’s other pieces – there are also shorts, sweats and outerwear that come in maternity and curve/plus sizes – I imagine the rest of the range is just as thoughtfully designed as the leggings and the bra. And if you’re someone who’s been looking for a versatile pair of leggings that will support you in all sorts of activities, the DK Active Match Point Tight is a style you might want to incorporate into your workout.
