‘Harley Quinn’ Valentine’s Day Special Looks Riskier Than Season 3’s Court of Owls Episode

Although I vaguely remember an announcement concerning a harley quinn Valentine’s Day special, it left my mind until I saw the very exciting and action-packed trailer that was released yesterday! Still in the theme of titles that are too descriptive, Harley Quinn: a very problematic Valentine’s Day special follows Harley and Ivy on their first-ever Valentine’s Day as an official couple. Although Ivy wants to keep things cool, that’s not Harley’s style at all.

Anyone familiar with the series or the great Tee Franklin comic book series knows that she’s not afraid to “go for it” when it comes to sex. The universe will take on predators like Doctor Psycho, but also show off the wide range of genders and sexualities that are typically underrepresented, including sex workers, kink, disability, gay couples, and more. That being said, this episode looks a lot more evil than the Season 3 episode “A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy”.

In the fourth episode of Season 3, while on a rescue mission from Frank the Plant (voiced by JB Smoove), Harley and Ives go to a Court of Owls meeting to find out that it is actually a huge sex party. Showrunners Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern admitted they were surprised they got away with everything that happened, considering DC wouldn’t let Batman perform tricky linguistics with Catwoman (who was also at the sex party) .

As fun as the party was for most onlookers, they couldn’t really enjoy themselves due to the tension caused by an uncovered secret held by Ivy.

In this new special, Harley and Ivy once again have to save the day, but at least they’ll also enjoy some alone time together. There’s a rope game in the room and what looks like a romantic Italian dinner (just like Eat it, Bang! Kill. Tour Number 3) – not to mention all the other adventures of heroes and villains. Unfortunately, Batman (who is absolutely smitten with Catwoman) is unavailable to join in the festivities due to the events of Season 3. However, Catwoman shows him some love by sending him a gift.

The main conflict seems to arise after having an otherworldly bedroom experience that green (the cosmic force that connects all plant life) possibly amplifies, making everyone in Gotham want to stop this. they do and give in to carnal pleasure. This could be related to Ivy’s access to powerful pheromones (like when she used them against the Justice League in Season 2). Previously, the pheromone mist was green. However, the aura after was pink, just like in this new trailer! Since the last time Ivy used this spray, she has been hard at work in her lab and exploring her powers with the Green.

Harley Quinn: a very problematic Valentine’s Day special arrives on HBO Max on February 9.
