Khris Davis, Forest Whitaker and more in Sony’s boxing biopic

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for George Forman’s upcoming biopic.

From director George Tillman Jr. comes the sports dramaBig George Foreman: The miraculous story of the former and future world heavyweight champion. The film tells the story of heavyweight champion George Foreman, who shot to fame in the late 1960s when he became an Olympic gold medalist in the boxing/heavyweight division.

According to an official synopsis:

“Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Former and Future World Heavyweight Champion” is based on the remarkable true story of one of the greatest comebacks of all time and the transformative power of second chances. . Fueled by a poor childhood, Foreman channeled his anger into becoming an Olympic gold medalist and world heavyweight champion, followed by a near-death experience that took him from the boxing ring to the pulpit. But when he sees his community struggling spiritually and financially, Foreman returns to the ring and makes history by reclaiming his title, becoming the oldest and most unlikely heavyweight world champion of all time. The film stars Davis, Whitaker, Jasmine Mathews, Sullivan Jones, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., John Magaro and Sonja Sohn. The film is produced by David Zelon with George Foreman, Peter Guber, Wendy Williams and Henry Holmes serving as executive producers.
